Wim Wenders receives Douglas Sirk Award at Filmfest Hamburg
In conjunction with the German premiere of his latest feature SUBMERGENCE, Filmfest Hamburg awarded Wim Wenders with its most prestigious price, the Douglas Sirk Award. In doing so, Filmfest Hamburg honored his tireless commitment to European cinema and his tremendous dedication to the German film industry.
„For more than half a century, and with his very special view, Wim Wenders has shown us the world – how it was, how it is and maybe how it should be,“ informed Kultursenator Carsten Brosda (SPD) beforehand. „Quietly and yet with great force, his films promote responsibility and humanity.“
The laudation was held by Iranian artist and filmmaker Shirin Neshat.
