Wim Wenders receives Julius Posener Prize 2024
For his „unique contribution to the perception and communication of architecture and urban spaces“ the Deutscher Werkbund awarded Wim Wenders on 4 November in Berlin the Julius Posener Prize 2024. The jury praised Wenders‘ cinematic work as an „architectural mediation in the best sense of the word“, opening up new perspectives on urban and landscape spaces for the viewer and inviting them to understand architecture as a living part of human life: „His camera explores cities, buildings and landscapes with a careful, often meditative calm that makes the space speak and reveals the close interaction between culture, history(s) and architecture.“ In a conversation with Berlin-based author and journalist Knut Elstermann, Wim Wenders gave insights into his fascination with architecture and its conversion into images, films and stories.
