Cinema Multisala Rossini, Venice

On Friday 22 and Saturday 23 April 2022, Palazzo Grassi – Punta della Dogana – Pinault Collection presents at Cinema Multisala Rossini, Venice, the world première of the new installation conceived by one of the most significant masters of contemporary cinema, Wim Wenders (Düsseldorf, 1945), who is back for a new collaboration with Palazzo Grassi after having curated the exhibition project dedicated to Henri Cartier-Bresson in 2020.

The work, entitled “présence”, explores the world of Claudine Drai (Paris), a French artist whose most recent production will be on view in Venice at ACP – Palazzo Franchetti, from 21 April to 15 May 2022, on the occasion of her solo show also entitled “présence”.

The genesis of this work resides in the strong fascination felt by Wim Wenders when he first encountered the world of Claudine Drai. The fragility of her work, entirely made out of white paper, and the unique spiritual real the filmmaker sensed, deeply moved him.
In turn, Claudine Drai trusted him with her poetic universe.

Shot in 3D in 2020 and 2021, “présence” narrates in an extremely evocative way the artistic practice of Claudine Drai without following a linear narrative flow.

Screening in the presence of the artist and of the filmmaker.
