The Japanese Government awarded Wim Wenders the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, for his contribution to promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and Germany. The prestigious medal was presented to him on May 27th, 2026, at the Japanese Embassy in Berlin by Her Excellency Ambassador Shino.
It was a wonderful ceremony and celebration, surrounded by Wim’s special friends, colleagues and family.
