Ulrich Felsberg began his career as a producer in Berlin 1983. When Wim Wenders directed "Wings of Desire" in 1986, Felsberg took administrative charge of Road Movies Film Produktion. A long-standing partnership developed and Ulrich Felsberg became Wim Wenders' producer and managing shareholder of the Road Movies Group. Since 1986, Felsberg has produced and co-produced more than 40 movies including more than 10 co-productions with the UK since 1994. His feature credits include "Notebook on Cities and Clothes," "Until the End of the World," "Faraway So Close (Jury Prize - Cannes 1993)," "Lisbon Story," "The End of Violence" and "The Million Dollar Hotel (Silver Bear - Berlin 2000)" among others. Included in this list was Michelangelo Antonioni and Wim Wenders' "Beyond the Clouds" and "Buena Vista Social Club," a documentary that brought Felsberg the Producer Prize for Best Documentary at the 2000 German Film Awards and the Prix Arte Best Documentary at the 1999 European Film Awards. Furthermore, he has served as co-executive and executive producer credits on three of Ken Loach's films -- "Land of Freedom (FIPRESCI Award, in competition - Cannes 1995, European Film Award 1995)," "Carlas Song (in competition - Venice 1996)," "My Name is Joe (in competition - Cannes 1998)," Tomas Gutierrez Alea's "Guantanamera (in competition - Venice 1995)" and Juanma Bajo Ulloa's "Airbag." His achievement as the producer of "Buena Vista Social Club" was recognized earlier this year with a nomination from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for an Academy Award "the Oscar" in the Documentary category. In 1998, Ulrich Felsberg was elected to the 12 member board of European Film Academy; is also a member of the board of Ateliers du Cinema European (ACE); teaches at the Media Business School in Spain since 1995; and is a member of the British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA). In 1999, Road Movies merged with the digital effects company Das Werk whose holding company had a successful flotation on the Frankfurt stock market. Ulrich Felsberg continues as manager of Road Movies Filmproduktion, Road Sales Media Distribution and Road Line Media Produktion, and is also a member of the board of Das Werk AG with responsibility for all international film production and sales activities of the joint-stock company. Felsberg's most recent projects include "Bread & Roses" by Ken Loach (in competition - Cannes 2000), "Gangster No. 1" by Paul McGuigan, Pat Murphy's "Nora (in competition - Karlovy Vary 2000)," "Waiting List" by Juan Carlos Tabio, Barbara Kopple's "My Generation" and Stephen Frears' "Liam (in competition - Venice 2000)." |
