Ruediger Vogler was born on May 14th 1942 in Warthausen near Biberach. From 1963 until 1965 he attended the acting academy of Heidelberg and upon completion of his studies took an acting job at the "Zimmertheater".

After that period he performed for approximately 6 years at the "Theater im Turm" in Frankfurt. He was especially involved in produktions of plays written by Peter Handke. Other places of work suring his stage career included "Theatre desAmandiers" near Paris and the "Salzburger Festspiele".

His first work in film was the TV production of "Chronic der laufenden Ereignisse" by Peter Handke. His movie career which started in 1971 with "The Goalkeeper's Fear of the Penalty" is marked especially by the collaboration with Wim Wenders.

He is also known for his TV work.
