Born in Nancy (France) on the 28th of September 1959, Laurent Petitgand
is multi-instrumentalist (guitarist, pianist, saxophonist), singer, author,
composer and also actor for the cinema.
Raised
in a 9 children family, he sang between 7 and 14 years old in a religious
choir before undertaking his self-taught artist career, alone first, then
within different bands he created like "Sale Affaire Patron"
and "Dick Tracy". With the latter, he composed his first movie
soundtrack for "Tokyo-Ga" by Wim Wenders, which marks the starting
point of a rich collaboration.
Along
with writing songs he interprets, what takes most of his time today, he
composed for theatre and dance, particularly for the Angelin Preljocaj's
ballet, where he met his wife, dancer and actress, Katia Medici.
He wrote lyrics for Alain Bashung ("Les Grands Voyageurs"),
chords arrangements for Christophe ("Comme si la Terre Penchait")
and Daran ("L'Eau", with Florent Pagny).
We
saw him in the role of the Alekan Zirkus' conductor in "The Wings
of Desire", and he played in the movies of Solveig Dommartin, Kim
Massee, Christophe Le Masne…
He
is the father of two little girls, Margot, born after the projection of
"Faraway, So Close" and to whom the CD of the soundtrack is
dedicated, and Louise, born on the 7th of March 2002.
